EPALE Regional Conference and EAAL 2019 Conference

24 and 25 September 2019, Congress Centre Thermana Laško

Welcome!

The Centre of the Republic of Slovenia for Mobility and European Educational and Training Programmes (CMEPIUS) in the role of National Support Service of EPALE Slovenia, and the Slovenian Institute for Adult Education (SIAE), as National Coordinator of the EAAL project joined forces for the organisation of the regional EPALE and closing EAAL conference in Slovenia. This two-day event is a manifestation of the synergy of both processes in the field of adult education triggered by the European Commission and being implemented in the region. In Slovenia, both projects are co-financed by the Slovenian Ministry of Education, Science and Sport (MESS).

Regional EPALE conferences are opportunities for EPALE National Support Services (NPSs) in South-Eastern Europe to exchange their experiences and ideas. At the same time they are dedicated to topical themes in the hosting country and wider. The red thread of this year’s conference was the implementation of the Council Recommendation Upskilling Pathways – new opportunities for adults in partner countries.

At the conference, more than 80 participants took part, 14 of them from Bosnia and Herzegovina, 8 from Croatia and Montenegro each, 2 from Serbia, a representative of the European Commission, and around 50 representatives of Slovenian adult education stakeholders (policy-makers, experts, practitioners etc.).

Presentations are available here; the event is documented also via videos and photos (coming soon).

EPALE

is the Electronic Platform for Adult Learning in Europe dedicated to adult education professionals by creating a space for the exchange of their opinions, experiences, news and resources. The National Support Service (NSS) for EPALE Slovenia is located at CMEPIUS. They, among other activities, have joined forces with NSSs of the Balkan region to regularly organize regional EPALE conferences. This year, the event is being hosted by EPALE Slovenija. It will bring together EPALE staff and other adult education stakeholders from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Montenegro, Serbia and Slovenia.

EAAL

Is the acronym for the Implementation of the European Agenda for Adult Learning (EAAL). Activities in EU member states have been ongoing since 2012. In the current phase (2017–2019) in many countries, including Slovenia, they are linked to the implementation of the Council Recommendation Upskilling Pathways – new opportunities for adults. In the Slovenian EAAL project we have been paying attention to awareness raising on the importance of adult learning and motivation of the low-skilled and other vulnerable target groups to take up learning for acquiring basic skills and other key competences. Regularly we are publishing project related information on EPALE and contributing to the development of the platform.
