Digital transformation of society
EAAL Forum on the future of adult education and EPALE online discussion
organized by Slovenian Institute for Adult Education (SIAE) and CMEPIUS
17 June 2021 via Zoom and EPALE
Digital transformation of society is a phenomenon that is impossible to evade. It affects all generations and several areas of our lives. As individuals we have become very conscious of limitations brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic.
In these times, we were literally forced to take a leap into the virtual world of communication and collaboration. We had to develop our digital skills, however, due to many restrictions (money, infrastructure, basic skills …), the digital gap only widened.
Digitalization is crucially and mutually connected with lifelong learning. We learn in order to acquire digital skills. On the other hand, technology can support our learning process (and other life circumstances) immensely. Artificial intelligence plays an important role in all this.
Rightfully, we are wondering, what is our future going to be, and what opportunities are there for synergy between mankind and technology?
We hosted renowned professionals and practitioners to talk about digital transformation of society, ethical aspects and lifelong learning.
The event took place on 17 June via ZOOM and was interpreted into sign language as well as from English into Slovenian, and vice versa.
